+ Handmade jewellery
All jewellery pieces are Nicola's designs and are entirely handmade by Nicola personally, in her studio. The few exceptions are ancillary components, mainly snake chains, cables and butterflies. Clasps, studs, and hooks are all handmade by Nicola using precious metals.Nicola outsources certain specialised production tasks such as gold plating and metal casting. Where casts are used, the original masters were designed and handmade by Nicola. Where precious gemstones are involved, she may engage a specialist gem setter.
Minor variations are possible from one item to the next because they are all handmade. Variations may also include colour shade differences in gemstones, pearls and final finishes; as well as in weight. Dimensions shown for individual items are as accurate as possible, but minor variations from the sample measured may be possible. For articulated pieces, dimensions can be approximate only.

Nicola sources the finest quality materials, including recycled precious metal wherever possible.Silver
Most of her silver jewellery is made using 'argentium silver', a modern tarnish-resistant silver alloy, containing 93.5% silver. This easy to care for product meets the standard required for hallmarking as sterling silver. Traditional sterling silver is 92.5% silver and is used in Nicola's earring posts, snake chains and some clasps.
Gold
Nicola specifies the carat (ct) level she uses, which varies across her jewellery ranges. Where the item is 'gold plated', this means there is a thin application of gold over silver. Where the item is 'bonded' with gold, this means that a thick layer of gold alloy (usually 18ct) is bonded onto the solid silver base.
Hallmarking
Due to the sculpted shapes of much of Nicola's work, it is not always possible to hallmark the precious metal with a hallmarking stamp. All precious metals and carats of gold are guaranteed to be as stated on the website and on invoices, as can be proved with acid testing.
Pearls
Keshi pearls are those that form naturally in the oyster shell, as a beautiful and unintentional by-product. Not being cultivated, they have highly textured shapes, and come in a range of colours.
Cultured pearls come in a variety of pearl shapes. The pearls are cultivated around a 'seed' in the oyster shell, so that they form smooth round surfaces, ideal for many items of jewellery.
Cables
All high-quality nylon coated cables are sourced by Nicola from Germany or Japan and threaded by her into necklaces.
Gemstones
All gemstones are natural unless otherwise stated and are ethically sourced.
+ Special requests, alterations and sizing
As a general rule, Nicola does not offer individual designs or alterations to the pictured designs on this site. The order form provides options for snake chain lengths for most pendants. Multi-strand cable necklaces are made to standard lengths, but these lengths can usually be varied if the variation is requested at the time of ordering. Please contact Nicola if you need help with measuring or sizing of necklaces and bracelets.Rings can be ordered in most sizes; contact Nicola before ordering. Please note that the price may vary if there is a significant difference in the weight of material (such as silver) needed.
+ Prices and Payment
All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST); this can be credited back to overseas purchasers on request. Any import duties or taxes are the responsibility of the overseas purchaser. Payment must be made prior to despatch. Online payments can be made by any credit card bearing the Mastercard, Visa or American Express logo. Payments are processed securely by Pin Payments. No credit card details are retained by Nicola or ever stored on her website. If you prefer, payment can be made by direct bank transfer—please contact Nicola for details.Nicola reserves the right to cancel any order placed via the internet that she believes to be fraudulent.
+ Shipping and Insurance
After placing your order and making payment, you will receive a confirmation email. Despatch is normally within 5 business days of receipt of payment for the order. Nicola will contact you if, for any reason, that turnaround time cannot be met. She reserves the right to cancel an order if she is unable to fulfill it in a reasonable time, in which case all money will be refunded.Delivery within Australia is by trackable parcel post at no charge to you. Nicola does not accept any liability for loss or damage in the mail. While there is no guarantee, Nicola has found trackable postage services in Australia very reliable and her careful packaging helps minimise damage risks. If you wish your parcel to be insured, please check the insurance box on the order form; a charge of 11AUD including GST will be added to your bill.
Nicola charges for overseas postage and any insurance required. Overseas customers are encouraged to complete their purchase at checkout and indicate any shipping and insurance requirements in the 'comments' box. She will then forward a separate invoice for shipping costs. Any applicable customs, duties, and fees are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. + Refunds or exchanges
Purchases of Nicola's jewellery made from shops or galleries, or bought through any other means, will not be refunded or exchanged. Refunds or exchanges are strictly limited to purchases made through this e-commerce site and subject to the following conditions.Nicola certainly hopes you are happy with your purchase. If you are not entirely happy, do not remove the tag on the item and please contact her within 7 days of receiving it. She is happy to refund or exchange an item if it is not damaged, has not been worn (as evidenced by its tag* being intact) and notice is received by her within the 7 days of receipt of the item. (*The tag has been attached with fine stainless steel wire, which is readily removed with a pair of nail clippers or sharp scissors. An intact tag helps to establish that returned jewellery has not been worn.)
Refunds or exchanges are not available on items which were especially altered by Nicola to meet a purchaser's specific request.
The return postage costs, will be the purchaser's expense, and a trackable service must be used. The purchaser must advise when the item is posted, with tracking details. The returned item must be received within 14 days (if posted within Australia) or 28 days (from overseas) of notice being given of its return. It must be in the original packaging and condition, with the tag attached. Refunds will be made via Pin Payments.

If you purchase a product from Nicola, she needs to request certain personal information from you (your name, email, phone number and postal address). This information will not be divulged to any third party, except if, in the unlikely event, she is required by law and when she believes that disclosure is necessary to protect her rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on her website.
