The Seashell collection

Triangular shells reimagined into a pared-back aesthetic
seashells

This collection is minimal and fluid, with the defining feature being how the elements are linked together. Each shape connects to the next with fine discreet joins allowing the jewellery to move naturally with the body. Soft asymmetrical triangular shapes are subtly domed producing an organic effect, and the reflection of light on the soft circular brushed finish inside each piece suggests a muted glow.

Earrings and necklaces feature an array of shapes suspended in sequence, creating the perfect balance between structure and softness, which allows for a gentle swaying motion when worn. The collection is made from solid tarnish-resistant Argentium silver for a single tone look, or combined with 14ct gold-filled shapes for bold contrast and increased versatility. Pieces can be made in solid 9ct, 14ct and 18ct upon request. Variations in size etc. can also be requested.

Carefully assembled to create a rhythmic movement
making seashell jewellery

The creation of this collection involved a great deal of trial and error. It began with making a series of aluminium templates of various shapes and sizes and then cutting them out in copper and subtly doming them. These were assembled into various arrangements, then I began experimenting with the soldering of jump rings in precise locations. The exact angle and location of the jump rings were essential to the piece hanging correctly, since any error could result in the piece drooping to one side.

As earrings and pendants essentially hang from one point, the centre of gravity also had to be carefully considered, but only once all the triangular pieces had been joined together. Many copper models had to be made with various placements of jump rings and earring posts to get the final design just right. Once the design was finalised the jewellery was made entirely by hand using solid silver sheet and wire.

Caring for your Seashell jewellery
materials for cleaning Seashell jewellery

Your Seashell jewellery should never be sprayed with perfume, hairspray or deodorant as these can cause a patina to develop on the surface of the silver. It is essential to store your jewellery carefully wrapped up in tissue paper to prevent scratching the subtle circular finish and then also store it in an airtight plastic bag or container. Don’t leave silver jewellery out in the open as circulating air will speed up any tarnishing.

If you do need to remove tarnish from your Seashell jewellery, I recommend a silver dip like Hagerty Silver Clean, available online. Simply dip the jewellery for a couple of seconds only, then rinse thoroughly with water and dry carefully with a tissue. If you have a hairdryer available you can blast it with some hot air, (be careful: the jewellery will be hot!) but this is not essential; the main thing is that it’s dried properly as tiny spots of water will leave a water mark on the surface and the whole cleaning process may have to be repeated.

As a rule all fine jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. Please don’t hesitate to contact me via email if you have any questions.
